WHAT IS A CATARACT?

A cataract is a clouding of the eye’s natural lens which lies behind the iris and the pupil. The lens in the human eye works just like a camera lens, focusing light onto the retina at the back of the eye and thus providing a focused image. Initially a cataract has little or no effect on your vision. You may notice your vision is slightly blurred. Some people experience more glare from oncoming headlights when driving at night and colours may not appear as bright.
